The surface will enhance the fitness benefits of the track and lanes will be striped for walking and running. Students, athletes, teachers, Heelan family members and game fans watching a game will enjoy the surface.
No other high school in Sioux City offers this health benefit.
Last year in the BigGive Heelan raised nearly $20,000 for the gym and is using the funds for a new video scoreboard, a first at Heelan.
