New Sacred Heart Playground Coming Soon

Ground is Broken for New Playground
Posted on 08/01/2019
Sacred Heart School broke ground in July to install a new playscape area and prepare to add a basketball court and soccer field next spring.

Current playground equipment on site is unstable for student use, so students use the parking lot, according to Principal Kate Connealy. Playing on concrete leads to numerous skinned knees and does not lend itself to creative play, she says. In addition, funerals that require use of the parking lot prevent children from playing outside.

The new playground will offer playscape and green space for 350 students who use the playground every school day. Students and families have raised nearly $75,000 for the project and Lieber Construction is donating time and equipment to create the new play space.

The playscape equipment is expected to be installed in August and parent volunteers will spread the woodchip surface in time for school opening Aug. 23.
