Pen Pals Go Hi-Tech

Goodbye postcard pen pals. Hello Google Meet! Holy Cross School third graders gathered Tuesday to visit online with other school friends in the Sioux City Diocese, in this case, Gehlen Catholic in Le Mars.

Mrs. Pat Boggs’ and Mrs. Pick’s students experienced how technology can bring together people from across the country for a “meeting” and build relationships. They used Google docs for honing their writing skills and then connected digitally on Google Meet with their Le Mars pals.

With the school year ending this Friday, the Holy Cross third graders were anxious to make the visual connection with their other Catholic school counterparts. They enjoyed help from 8th graders, too.

School is out Friday and the Holy Cross third graders looked forward to this last chance to connect. Thanks to Google, their teachers and the school technology staff members who made it happen the students forged new friendships with several scheduling summer play dates to meet in person.
