Class of 2023 Set to Graduate

A senior class of 122 will graduate from Bishop Heelan Catholic High School in a commencement ceremony Sunday, May 21, at 2 p.m. at the Orpheum Theatre.

 Valedictorian Grace I. Nelson and Salutatorian Kenley Meis will formally address the Class of 2023.

 Student Council President Grace P. Nelson will lead her class in the Prayer to St. Francis. The ceremony will include recorded music by the Heelan High School Band.

 The ceremony will include Bishop R. Walker Nickless, Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools President Dr. John Flanery, Bishop Heelan High School’s Principal Christian Bork, Dean of Students Bobby Michaelson and Chaplain Fr. Travis Crotty.

Flanery and Bishop Nickless will both address the graduates and guests.

 2023 Class Highlights:  

  • 92% plan to pursue post-secondary education; 72% of them to four-year institutions.
  • Graduates have been offered $9 million in academic scholarships.
  • There are 45 graduates with 3.75 GPA or above and enrolled in an honors course.
  • Fifty-two students earned silver cords for 60 hours or more of community service hours.
  • The Senior Student of the Year recipients were: Grace I. Nelson (Communication Arts and Social Studies), Hung Doan (Math), Ella Demers (Fine Arts), Derek Dobbins (Life Skills), William J.P. O’Connor (Science), Brynn Kuntz (Theology) and Marin Frazee (World Languages).
  • The Top 5% in the senior class are: Andrew Brockhaus, Ella Demers, Luka Ernesti, Keara Joyce, Sophia Kuntz, Kenley Meis, Grace I. Nelson, William J.P. O’Connor and Lauryn Peck.
